Overview

Playback ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy covers two things: the Playback iOS app, and this website at playbacknow.app. The short version: the app collects nothing, and the website collects only what you give us on the waitlist.

    Who this site is for: This website and its waitlist are intended for parents and guardians (18+). The Playback app itself is built for families — including children — and the app collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. See "The Playback App" below.
  

The Playback App

The Playback app is designed so that your family's data never leaves your family's device:

No data collection. The app does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on our servers — we have no servers. Everything the app knows (your Game Plan, screen-time settings, progress) lives only on the device it was created on.
No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no profile stored with us.
No analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs. The app contains no tracking or advertising code of any kind.
Apple's Family Controls. Screen-time enforcement uses Apple's own Family Controls framework. On a child's device, granting the app access requires a parent's approval through Apple's built-in consent flow — and Apple's privacy design means the app cannot read which apps are used or for how long; it can only enforce the limits your family sets.
Deleting the app deletes everything. Because nothing exists off-device, removing Playback removes all of its data.

Because the app collects no personal information from anyone — including children — there is no in-app data for us to sell, share, lose, or be asked to delete.

Website: Information We Collect

Email Addresses (Waitlist)

When you sign up for our waitlist, we collect:

Your email address
The date and time you signed up
Your confirmation that you are a parent or guardian (18+)

We use this information solely to:

Notify you when Playback launches
Send updates about the app development
Invite you to participate in early testing

Automatically Collected Information

This website runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider (Netlify) keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and operations. We do not use this information to identify or profile visitors.

How We Use Your Information

We use your email address to:

Send you updates about Playback's development and launch
Invite you to beta testing programs
Respond to your inquiries

We will never:

Sell your email address to third parties
Share your information with advertisers
Send you spam or unrelated marketing

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted connection)
Email addresses are stored securely
Access is limited to essential personnel only

Third-Party Services

Our website uses one third-party service:

Netlify — website hosting and secure storage of waitlist form submissions. Netlify processes this data on our behalf under its own privacy policy.

Form spam protection uses a simple hidden-field technique that involves no third-party scripts and collects nothing from you.

Cookies

Our website uses minimal cookies to function properly. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect website functionality.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify waitlist subscribers of any material changes via email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy will reflect the most recent changes.

COPPA (Children's Privacy)

Playback complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and our approach is simple:

In the app: we collect no personal information from anyone — including children. Children use Playback on devices managed by their parents, with screen-time access granted through Apple's own parental-consent flow, and all data stays on the device.
On this website: the waitlist is directed to parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn we have, we will delete it immediately.

Parent/Guardian Rights

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, you have the right to:
